The Oncotype DX® breast cancer test is a diagnostic test created to help patients who have been recently diagnosed with early stage, estrogen receptor positive breast cancer. It provides information in addition to the standard measurements (such as tumor size, tumor grade and lymph node status) that doctors have traditionally used to estimate how likely a patient’s cancer is to return, and to help make treatment decisions.

The Oncotype DX breast cancer test works by examining a sample of breast cancer. The test measures a group of breast cancer genes in this sample to see how active they are (also known as how they are expressed). American Society of Clinical Oncology® (ASCO®) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network®(NCCN®) treatment guidelines both incorporate this unique test. To date, the Oncotype DX test (for both breast and colon cancer) has been ordered by tens of thousands of doctors in over 60 countries for more than 1 200 000 patients.
