Oncotype DX® Prostate Cancer Assay
The Oncotype DX prostate cancer test was developed to help men with newly diagnosed, early-stage prostate cancer select the right treatment for their cancer. The Oncotype DX test for prostate cancer is a genomic test that determines the risk of the cancer before the treatment begins.
Genomic Health and its collaborators conducted 22 Oncotype DX development and validation studies in breast and colon cancer – then used this same rigorous clinical development strategy to develop and validate the Oncotype DX Prostate Cancer Assay. In a 5-year effort, Genomic Health optimized its proprietary technology platform to enable the reliable and consistent analysis of very small amounts of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded prostate tissue obtained by diagnostic prostate needle biopsies.
